If you haven’t read Maus yet\, it is a very quick read! \nTo RSVP email: womensleague@adathisraelnj.org \nThe graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman is a rich and engaging story. It follows his own parents’ story in Poland during the 1930s\, and describes their experiences as the Nazis invaded and persecuted the Jewish population. Spiegelman presents his story in graphic form\, portraying his characters as animals. Now heralded as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time\, Maus successfully established comics as an important feature of contemporary culture and historical representation. It opened the floodgates to comics addressing serious subject matter and changed the medium’s relationship with history.
